Located in the San Shu Gong building, Lao Qian Ice Cafe is one of the tourist hotspot. After a couple of hours strolling and walking around Jonker Street, the best thing to do is to have something cold and icy. And also a cold place to chill.
Lao Qian Ice Cafe is usually crowded during weekends, school holidays and public holidays. Expect to queue up a little as Lao Qian Ice Cafe operates on a self service basis. When it’s too crowded, you might even face difficulty to get a spot to seat and enjoy your snacks, drinks or desserts.
As it is getting closer to dinner time during our stop here, we only ordered Tee Nyonya Pineapple Pie, a Durian Cendol and a Gula Melaka Cendol. They are among the few recommended ones on the menu.
Durian Cendol – MUST TRY!
Yummy isn’t it? But only for durian lovers. If you are not a fan of durians, you can opt for the normal Gula Melaka Cendol. Gula Melaka Cendol cost RM4.80, one ringgit cheaper than Durian Cendol and taste as good as the Durian Cendol (without the taste of durians of course).
Tee Nyonya Pineapple Pie (Recommended)
Three pieces of Tee Nyonya Pineapple Pie for RM3.60 – still reasonable
The mouth watering pastry and the pineapple fillings – MUST TRY!
Besides the above, Lao Qian Ice Cafe also recommend Icy White Coffee, Natural Wheatgrass with Honey, Chen Nie Lao Ji and Amoy Yuan Yang Waffle on their menu. Be sure to try them all if you’re there.
